The New "Our Teachers" page09/10/2025 Responding to the question of "who are your teachers?" We have started work on Our Teachers page. This will include a photo, a brief background paragraph and, where available, a YouTube or audio recording on each teacher. For now we have purposely put our newest teachers first. I, personally, am very proud of our teaching staff with regard to many things. First and foremost, each teacher is dedicated to mentoring students toward success and excellence (one of our chief aims). Second, each teacher has a superb musical background that they have earned through dedication and devotion to the craft of music. As teachers, each of us is focused on passing our knowledge and skills to our students and accelerate their journey down the path of music and the life-long enjoyment of music. When you have a moment go check out our Teachers page and check back over the next few weeks as the page moves toward completion. Well another summer has passed and, as of today, area schools are beginning classes. This means all students will feel busier now. I use the word “feel” in this article because in terms of being busy, do things ever really change from season to season? Isn’t each season busy with its own busy-ness? What am I getting at here? Throughout the school year we hear the phrase, “I couldn’t practice this week. I was too busy” with…..(school work, after school activities, you name it.) Seems like a good excuse. School work is certainly important. But, you know, we hear the same comment in the summer as well. “I was too busy to practice. We went to…..(insert a fun place here).” I’m making the point here that we, all of us, are always busy. We all must set aside the time to eat, sleep, exercise, do chores, have some fun! and…..(for musicians) practice music. It’s all busy-ness and it’s all important. It’s a byproduct of living. If you’ve committed to learning to play an instrument, make regular practice an important part of your day (hint: it is an important part of your day). In terms of a young student’s overall development as a well-rounded and well educated person with a penchant for achieving excellence in all things great and small, music is as important as any subject and work done in the practice room is as important as work done in the classroom. Now, please excuse me. I need to go practice! (Yes, after 50+ years of playing guitar I still practice every day!) Have a great school year!!! Rick 10 Comments | |||
